Synopsis
Thousandfold is an epic novel that spans generations and continents, telling the story of a Jewish family's struggle for survival and identity in the face of adversity. The novel begins in the shtetls of Eastern Europe in the late 19th century and follows the family as they immigrate to America, experience the horrors of the Holocaust, and rebuild their lives in the aftermath of war.
At the heart of the novel is the story of Rivka, a young woman who witnesses the murder of her family during a pogrom. Haunted by the trauma of her past, Rivka struggles to find meaning in her life. She eventually marries a man who is also a survivor of the Holocaust, and together they build a family in America.
As Rivka's children grow up, they face their own challenges. Her son, David, becomes a successful businessman, but he is haunted by the guilt of having survived the Holocaust while so many of his family members perished. Her daughter, Miriam, becomes a doctor and dedicates her life to helping others. But she too is haunted by the past, and she struggles to come to terms with her own mortality.
Thousandfold is a powerful and moving novel that explores the themes of love, loss, resilience, and the search for meaning in life. It is a story that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
