Materials You'll Need:

  • 14-count white Aida cloth (approx. 5" x 5")
  • DMC embroidery floss in the following colors:
    • Dark green (3845)
    • Light green (3846)
    • Gold (725)
    • Red (666)
    • White (B5200)
  • Embroidery needle (size 24 or 26)
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Embroidery hoop

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Aida cloth: Cut a piece of Aida cloth approximately 5" x 5". If using an embroidery hoop, secure the fabric tautly within the hoop. Otherwise, simply fold the edges of the fabric over by about 1/4" to prevent fraying.
  2. Start stitching: Separate the six strands of embroidery floss into individual strands. Using a single strand of dark green floss, start stitching in the center of the Aida cloth, following the pattern provided.
  3. Continue stitching: Continue stitching the pattern using the indicated colors of floss. Be sure to follow the correct number of stitches for each color and symbol in the pattern.
  4. Finish the ornament: Once you have completed the stitching, cut any excess floss and knot the ends securely on the back of the fabric.
  5. Optional: Frame the ornament: If desired, you can frame the ornament using a small picture frame or a piece of cardboard covered with fabric.

Additional Tips:

  • Use a magnifying glass: If you have difficulty seeing the Aida cloth squares, use a magnifying glass to help you stitch more accurately.
  • Take breaks: Cross stitching can be relaxing, but it's important to take breaks to avoid eye strain and muscle fatigue.
  • Practice first: Before starting the actual ornament, practice your stitches on a scrap piece of Aida cloth.
  • Experiment with colors: While we recommend using the suggested colors, feel free to experiment with different shades and hues to create a truly unique ornament.
  • Have fun! Cross stitching should be enjoyable, so relax and enjoy the process of creating a beautiful holiday decoration.

With a little patience and a lot of holiday cheer, you will have created a stunning Green Star Ornament that will add a touch of festive charm to your home. Whether you choose to display it on your Christmas tree, hang it in a window, or give it as a thoughtful gift, this ornament is sure to bring joy to all who behold it. So gather your materials, settle into a comfortable spot, and embark on a needlework adventure that will create lasting memories and a festive decoration that you'll cherish for years to come.
